Lake Superior Maritime Museum technology refresh

In 2011, Performix updated the technology used in five kiosk displays in the Lake Superior Maritime Museum. Located next to the ship canal and the Duluth lift bridge, the museum displays the maritime technology and history of the area.

The technology of five kiosk displays was refreshed. In addition to replacing much of the hardware, a major change was the incorporation of software technology which allows the museum to update and add information to the displays much more easily. The museum staff now has the ability to perform updates to information or add new information.

Two of the kiosk have touchscreens. Visitors can browse through information about the ships, how ships are loaded and unloaded, and information about the major types of cargo which flow through the twin ports.

The kiosk display is located on the upper floor of the museum, and overlooks the canal which is straddled by the lift bridge. At the time that this article was written, the museum is closed during winter.

The ship schedule which is shown at the museum was also revamped. The schedule shows the expected arrivals and departures of ships through this canal.
